Soul meets chamber music? This unusual idea which at first glance may be categorized as rebellious and unsavory, is in actuality an extremely cunning approach to music in a modern day world that is full of autotune and over-dubs. Chamber Soul’s small formation applies a modern analogue philosophy to classical chamber music. With minimal instrumentation, the trio creates a compact and intimate sound that simultaneously resonates wtih unique richness and depth. The velvet voice of the American-born Soul singer Brandy Butler sways with a sophisticated tenderness, while harmonizes with the trombone’s dreamy melody, or musically assails in a rhythmic duel with the heavily picked guitar strings: a spectacle for every mood. All three musicians, Brandy Butler, guitarist Roman Hosek and trombonist René Mosele, benefit from extensive musical experience, thanks to engagements with Sophie Hunger, Michael Von der Heide, Phenomden, Dodo, Steff la Cheffe, Bligg, George Gruntz, Grand Mothers Funck and many others. The double album is a compilation of features. Whereas the first disc is a studio album, highlighting over two years of musical alliances, the second disc is a live album showcasing their collaboration with the Galatea String Quartet. The live shows were recorded on October 1 and 2, 2010 with string arrangements written by Philadelphia string legend Larry Gold (Justin Timberlake, Jay-Z, The Roots and many others).

Soul meets Kammermusik? Was auf den ersten Moment Stirnrunzeln auslösen mag, funktioniert in Tatsache hervorragend – erst Recht, wenn die Idee von einem ausserordentlich musikalischen Trio umgesetzt wird. Die kleine Formation widerspiegelt, analog zur klassischen Kammermusik, einen vollen und reichen Sound, welcher kompakt und intim daherkommt. Die samtene Soul-Stimme der gebürtigen Amerikanerin Brandy schmiegt sich mal wie eine Schmusekatze an das träumerische Glissando der Posaune, beweist sich dann wieder als stolze Raubkatze im Duell mit hart gezupften Girarrensaiten – ein Spektakel für alle Gemüter. Sowohl Brandy Butler, Gitarrist Roman Hosek als auch Posaunist René Mosele bringen umfassende musikalische Erfahrung mit durch Engagements mit beispielsweise Leona Lewis, Sophie Hunger, Michael Von der Heide, The Scrucialists, Bligg, George Gruntz, Grand Mothers Funck u.v.a. Während das erste Album diverse Künstler featured, befinden sich auf dem zweiten Album Liveaufnahmen, die am 1. und 2. Oktober 2010 in Zusammenarbeit mit dem Galatea String Quartet entstanden sind – deren Noten sind übrigens von keinem Geringeren als Mr. Larry Gold (Justin Timberlake, Jay-Z, The Roots u.v.a.) persönlich geschrieben worden.
